SAA Letter to HUD (February 1, 2019)
Requested Guidance Update Regarding Restrictions on Assistance to Noncitizens

A letter was drafted on behalf of the Section 8 Administrators Association, Inc. to request addition guidance from the Department of Housing and Urban Development with regard to acceptable documentation to support of eligible immigrations status for purposes of federal housing benefits pursuant to applicable law.

Piece of History

Peter McSwiggin stands with a commemorative clock awarded in 2013 to former Salem Mayor Jean Levesque for his support in implementing the Section 8 housing program in Salem and his commitment to those in need, the disabled, and senior citizens in the city. McSwiggin, a Salem native, founded the Section 8 Administrators Association in 1978, under Levesque’s tenure. The association now has more than 120 member agencies from Massachusetts and New England and offers training sessions to assist in the management of state and federal housing programs.

The clock and association Founder’s Award plaque were recently donated to the Mayor Jean A. Levesque Community Life Center on Bridge Street, where they will be placed on display. Behind McSwiggin is a portrait of Levesque, which hangs on a wall in the center. Levesque was mayor of Salem from 1973 to 1983.

Section 8 Administrators Association Annual Meeting (June 6th, 2019)

The S8AA Members Annual Meeting including Elections was held on June 6th, 2019 at the CRUISEPORT (part of the Beauport Hotel family) in Gloucester, MA.  Note that this ia a venue change for the Meeting.  Guest speakers included:

2018-2019 Annual Membership Notice and Renewal

Over 40 years ago the Section 8 Administrators Association was founded, by a group of enthusiastic and dedicated individuals for the purpose of providing a forum for the exchange of information on the management of the Section 8 program now called the Housing Choice Voucher program. Toward that end, the Association is committed to conducting training of vital concern to our membership and providing advocacy on behalf of our member agencies. The past several years have seen changes that have been unprecedented.

Don't forget to complete your annual renewal notice if you haven't already done so.

June 2018 Annual Meeting - Elections
S8AA held its 2018 elections of Officers & Directors at its June Annual Meeting. The Board of Directors page has been updated to reflect the elections and changes.
